WebPIM not reflecting changes in GroupWise

Environment

Novell GroupWise 7
Novell GroupWise Mobile Server powered by Intellisync

Situation

WebPIM does not show new mail
New mails take a long time to appear in WebPIM
New mails not shown when syncing
Error: "Error with GWEvent notification [8908]" in POA log

Resolution

The GMS server listens on port 8191 for notifications from the GroupWise Event Notification system. Whenever a change happens in GW the POA sends the update to the WebPIM. If the POA cannot connect to GMS on 8191 then users need to wait for the 30 minute poll cycle from the GMS server to the POA before they see new mails.

Make sure that any firewalls are not blocking port 8191 from the POAs in your GW system to the GMS server.
