Situation

Randomly bundles uninstall unexpectedly

The bundle was at some point assigned to both the user and the device, and later one of the assignments was removed.

Resolution

Important note: Before applying this fix, please note that one consequence of this patch is that if there are any bundles marked to be uninstalled after being unassigned after "x" number of days that are still waiting to be uninstalled, applying this fix will mean that they will not actually be uninstalled when the waiting period elapses. However, any changes to assignments after applying this fix will work correctly. The only known workaround at this time is to re-assign the bundle (only to those users/devices where the uninstall has not taken place) and then unassign again after applying the fix.

This is fixed in version 11.2.4 - see KB 7012027 "ZENworks Configuration Management 11.2.4 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7012027

Workaround: if it is not possible to upgrade to ZCM11.2.4 at this time, in the interim, Novell has made a Patch available for testing, as part of a Monthly patch update: it can be obtained at https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=s5zcEae9xcI~ as "ZCM 11.2.3a Monthly Update 1 - see TID 7012025". This update should only be applied if the symptoms above are being experienced, and are causing problems.

This Patch should only be applied if the symptoms above are being experienced, and are causing problems.

This Patch has had limited testing, and should not be used in a production system without first being checked in a test environment. Some Patches have specific requirements for deployment, it is very important to follow any instructions in the readme at the download site. Cause

The assignment details for the user and the device were kept separately, so that the uninstall took place the specified number of days after unassigning from one, even though the bundle was still assigned to the other

Additional Information

If the 'uninstall' event is captured in the debug log, the zmd-messages.log will contain 'ProcessRefreshUninstall ' entered and exited entries.
