Error when performing a insserv or chkconfig on sybase-asa

Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 3 - 10.3 Installation - Server
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 1
Novell ZENworks 11 Configuration Management Installation - Server

Situation

When performing one of the following actions:
  • chkconfig sybase-asa on
  • chkconfig sybase-asa off
  • insserv sybase-asa
  • insserv -r sybase-asa

the following error will be displayed:
insserv: Script sybase-asa is broken: incomplete LSB comment.
insserv: missing `Provides:' entry: please add.

Resolution

This is fixed in version 11.1 - see KB 7008746 "ZENworks Configuration Management 11.1 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Cause

The problem is caused by a missing entry in /etc/init.d/sybase-asa:
# Provides: sybase-asa

Additional Information

This is a cosmetic error. The action done on sybase-asa is completed. This can be checked with:
chkconfig sybase-asa
