Agent refresh failure, "Failed to connect to an IPC Port"

Environment

Novell ZENworks 11 Configuration Management
Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 3 - 10.3
Microsoft Windows Server 2003

Situation

Bundle icons on the desktop of a Windows 2003 Terminal Server session disappear, and the ZEN delivered group policy is not applied.

When issuing a manual refresh from the command line, this error is returned: Failed to connect to an IPC Port: The system cannot find the file specified.

In the zmd-messages.log, this unhandled exception is seen:

Resolution

For ZENworks 10.3.x:  This is fixed in version 10.3.4 - see KB 7008244 "ZENworks Configuration Management 10.3.4 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

For ZENworks 11:  This is fixed in version 11.1 - see KB 7008746 "ZENworks Configuration Management 11.1 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support
