Environment

Novell eDirectory 8.8 for All Platforms
Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for All Platforms
Novell eDirectory 8.6 for All Platforms
Novell eDirectory 8.5 for All Platforms

Situation

Western Australia DST is changing

Daylight Savings in the US and Canada is changing.
As along as the underlying operating system correctly reports time, Novell eDirectory and Novell Directory Services will also function correctly.
The embox utility that ships with eDirectory 8.7.3 and 8.8 does include a JRE. This JRE does have outdated DST rules. However, Novell Engineering has determined that this utility does not call any time related functions, so it will not be affected. No updates are required for this JRE.

Resolution

For each platform on which you have deployed eDirectory, contact the vendor to ensure that any needed patches are applied to account for the Daylight Saving Time change. As a general rule, any system using the network time protocol (NTP) and a trusted time source will handle the DST change. However, this should be verified with the vendor.
A list of each supported eDirectory platform and how to account for the DST change can be found below.

NetWare servers in affected Timezones can be updated with a Novell provided utility. KB 3397648 - Daylight Savings Time Adjustment Tool for Netware Servers
