Environment

Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management on Linux Support Pack 1 - ZDML7 SP1 Automatic Workstation Import

Situation

When importing a workstation via ZENworks Desktop Management on Linux using the registry (as shown in KB 10068910), setting
HKLM\Software\Novell\ZENworks\ZENWSREG,importws
to a typeful name will prefix "cn\=" to the name, e.g., setting importws to something like cn=myws.ou=workstations.o=myorg will result in a workstation called cn\=myws being created in workstations.myorg

Resolution

Fixed in ZENworks 7 Desktop Management on Linux Service Pack 1 Interim Release 3a. available at https://download.novell.com

As a workaround, use a typeless name (e.g., myws.workstations.home).

Additional Information

ZWSREG will also show this problem if the values are passed via the registry: ZWSREG will work if the parameters are passed on the command line,
e.g., zwsreg -importws cn=myws.ou=workstations.o=myorg
