| Access Manager: Deep Dive with the SAML Federation protocol | New | 4 hours (240 Minutes) | Advanced | Neil Cashell Mark Forsey |
In this session students will get an in-depth knowledge of the SAML protocol, and the various interfaces. Using this knowledge, the student will perform a consulting project and establish a federation between NetIQ Access Manager's SAML Identity Server and a well know SaaS provider, building appropriate metadata entries and configuring the SAML SSO settings on both the NAM and SaaS providers. Students will then finish up having to debug a SAML lab where users are unable to Federate between trusted providers. Prerequisites: This session will review the SAML protocol, it would make the session easier to understand if you review SAML before attending. |
| Access Manager 3.2: Technical Support Troubleshooting and New Features | Previously Taught | 2 Hours (120 Minutes) | Advanced | Neil Cashell Mark Forsey |
Learn how to avoid initial problems using proactive best practices, and to troubleshoot Access Manager 3.1 problems should they occur. This session covers troubleshooting tools and key log files for the most commonly reported problems. We will also review new product features from the latest release of Access Manager. Prerequisites: Understanding of Access Manager architecture and administration is required. |
| Access Gateway for the Cloud | New | 2 Hours (120 Minutes) | Introductory | Sandy Swanson |
Secure Access Gateway for Cloud allows IT security to adopt an on-premise solution that resides within their control, makes use of existing security and compliance policy frameworks, yet is deployable in near on-demand fashion to provide the best of two worlds—lower expense, complexity, time, management, AND near immediate delivery of identity, access, and compliance for users working in the cloud. Unlike other IAM solutions provided by vendors such as Oracle, CA, Microsoft, and IBM, Access Gateway for Cloud has unique capabilities that leverages existing enterprise identity and security policies to provide out of the box security and compliance capabilities such as full user provisioning, dynamic credentialing, privileged user management, Single Sign-On (SSO) and compliance reporting to SaaS services. Because Novell Access Gateway for Cloud is delivered as a virtual appliance and has the ability to dynamically inject existing enterprise security and compliance policies into SaaS applications without having to install or modify the existing infrastructures, the virtual appliance can be fully functional in under two weeks of consulting and customer unique business integration. Prerequisites: Understanding of SAML and Cloud will be beneficial before attending this session. |

In this session we are going to look at the new security and resource model in Role Based Provisioning Module 3.7/4.01. You will understand how the Role Based Provisioning Module (RBPM) provides a convenient way for end users to request the resources they need. This session will also focus on how administrators implement and configure resources using entitlements and then binding them to roles. The features that we are going to review are the following:
After you complete this session you will have better understanding on how to properly define permissions in the Role Based Provisioning Module (RBPM). We will also look at the current best practices around the trustee model so users aren't getting access to critical operations. This session consists of lecture and hands on portion. | Identity Manager: Entitlements from Creation to Implementation | Previously Taught | 4 hours (240 Minutes) | Advanced | Mark Forsey |
Are you confused about all this Entitlement hoopla? Entitlement this and Entitlement that! What is with all the Entitlement talk with Identity Manager over the past few years. Entitlements are not going away and are being used more heavily. This session will set you perfectly straight without confusion on how to effectively use Entitlements in your Identity Manager infrastructure. This session consists of lecture and a hands on portion. In the hands on portion you will create an entitlement including defining the policies required to carry out the requirements of the entitlement. You then use the entitlement with the 3 agents (Entitlements Service Driver, User Application Provisioning Workflow, and RBPM Resource Model) available to you in Identity Manager and the Roles Based Provisioning Module to understand how they are applied. Prerequisites: Experience with Identity Manager policies and Roles Based Provisioning workflows using Designer is recommended. |

| Advanced VMware Workstation and VM Remote Control | New | 2 Hours (120 Minutes) | Advanced | Doc Hodges |
Most of us use VMware Workstation locally and think of ESX or XEN for multi-user and servers. If you are willing to look a little deeper, you'll find Workstation options you might not expect. We'll crack open a few text files and learn to hand craft a linked clone, make 4 VMs with the disk space of 2, explain the dreaded ""Moved or Copied"" question and much more. We'll learn to use a networking trick that has saved us thousands of hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars. ESX is right for some jobs but you'll find new ways to save time and money with Workstation. Of course, the more VMs you have the more you need remote access for them and your users. There are some great options out there and many of them are free. We'll look how to manipulate the built in remote control, FreeNX and variants of VNC. We'll focus on Linux as the back end but most of the concepts work with Windows and OS X too. Prerequisites: Experience with VMware Workstation is required. Experience with SUSE Linux Enterprise is strongly suggested |
