Adding Courses to the Novell Training Locator

Detailed Instructions on Adding Courses

Access Event Admin List using your Novell eLogin account. (If you do not have a Novell eLogin account, select the create new account option and enter required information)
Importantto gain access to the Novell Training Locator administration tool you must use the same e-mail address in your Novell eLogin account that was sent to you.

Follow these instructions to upload a list of training events. If the instructions are not followed exactly as shown, the list of events will not upload successfully.

The file must be in “.csv” (comma-separated values) format and may be created using OpenOffice, Excel, or another application capable of creating the file in the proper format. This sample file has been provided for your convenience.

Note: If using OpenOffice or Excel when using the sample file, it may change the yyyy-mm-dd format. Please ensure the date format is correct when trying to upload. To avoid this issue change the date columns to International (ISO) data format.

The first row should contain the field names and will not be imported.
Each field in each row must be enclosed in quotation marks and separated by a comma.
Values are required for each of the following fields for each event, and they must appear in the order shown:

  • PARTNERNETID -
    (see list below. Example: “32244”)
  • COURSE NUMBER -
    (Example: “3077”)
  • BEGIN DATE -
    (must be in format “yyyy-mm-dd”. Example: “2007-02-26”)
  • END DATE -
    (must be in format “yyyy-mm-dd”. Example: “2007-02-26”)
  • BEGIN TIME -
    (Set column format to “Text” in spreadsheet. Will display as entered.)
  • END TIME -
    (Set column format to “Text” in spreadsheet. Will display as entered.)
  • REGISTRATION URL -
    (Example: “www.company.com/trainingreg”)
  • REGISTRATION PHONE -
    (Example: “801-555-1212”)
  • REGISTRATION E-MAIL -
    (Example: “trainingreg@company.com”)
    *The following two fields are required to be present for each event, but may be left blank by not including any value or text between the corresponding quotation marks.
  • LIST PRICE
    *(No longer used or displayed, but required for backwards compatibility)
  • YOUR PRICE
    *(No longer used or displayed, but required for backwards compatibility)
    Other required fields:
  • REFUND POLICY -
    (Limited to 4000 characters and may not contain embedded quotation marks. You can also use this field to convey "More Information" for your event.)
  • PUBLISH FLAG -
    (Must be set to “Y” or “N”.)
    The last field in each record indicates delivery type. This field is not required and if left blank the delivery type defaults to Classroom.
  • DELIVERY TYPE -
    (Example: “Classroom” or “Online” or “Both”)
    After creating the .csv file of events, select the file using the “Browse” button, then press the “Upload” button.
    The system will process the file and return either a confirmation that the events have been uploaded, or an error message indicating any problems found in the file.
