Novell News - In the Loop

Gilmore Global & Novell in Partnership!

Beginning May 1, 2008 Gilmore Global will be Novell's single print vendor for all Novell authorized courseware.

All Novell Training Partners who have returned a payment agreement to Lindsay Ziebarth of Gilmore Global and have received a login ID, password and URL to the Gilmore Global online storefront are ready to place orders. For more information please contact Lindsay Ziebarth at ziebarthl@gilmore.ca or call 1-800-795-6661 x2286.

The Gilmore Global online storefront replaces all other courseware ordering channels for Novell Training Partners and customers.

The last day that orders can be placed through POST is April 24, 2008. Following April 24th , the part numbers related to Novell courseware will be permanently removed from the corporate price list. Training Partners who purchase Novell courseware through Element K may continue to do so until April 30, 2008.

More information and valuable resources can be located on ChannelLink:

  1. A User Guide – This is intended to step any Training Partner through the new online storefront.
  2. An FAQ document – To help answer popular questions that have been asked.
  3. A Recording of an Interactive Training Session** – Several sessions were conducted to walk Training Partners through the process of logging in and ordering your courseware through the Gilmore Global online storefront.

**NOTE: When viewing the recorded Elluminate Live! session, use the fast-forward button in your browser window to fast-forward to the 35 minute-mark in the recording to view the presentation. The first 30 minutes of recorded Elluminate Live! sessions are blank, allowing for participants to connect to the session and populate the Elluminate Live! interface. Actual presentation content begins at approximately the 35-minute mark in the recorded session.

NEW Certified Linux Administrator 10 - Training, Certification and Promotion!
*UPCOMING*

In order to celebrate the launch of the Certified Linux Administrator 10 (CLA10), Novell Training Services has created a courseware bundle to help our Training Partners grow their Linux training.

From April 21st to May 30th, Novell Training Partners can purchase bundle Certified Linux Administrator 10 Certification Self Study Bundle (#7017) for €280 (regular list price is €350). This bundle includes the two student manuals that map directly to our new CLA10 certification: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Fundamentals (#3071) and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Administration (#3072).

This new certification has already witnessed quite a bit of fanfare with beta seats filling in record time. The new certification test will be launched by May 2008 through any VUE and Prometric center and it's only €75!

Suggested MSRPs for Novell courses

Aligning with the industry, Novell Training Services now has MSRPs for their training courses taught through training partners of roughly $500 USD per day of instruction. Typical 5-day courses will have an MSRP of $2495 USD and 3-day courses will have an MSRP of $1495 USD. Of course, training partners are welcome to price their classes as they see fit. These are only suggested retail prices based in US currencies and may need to be adjusted to your local region.

Novell will also signficantly increase the prices of their Novell Advanced Technical Training (ATT) courses so they do not fall into the same price range as the MSRP for our partner-led courses. This means the best value for training comes through Novell training partners, not "direct from Novell" ATT courses.

Quarterly Sales Training Spotlights

Novell Training Services is committed to bringing you sales training that will positively impact your bottom line. As a Training Partner you need to understand more than course content to effectively position training with your customers, so our Quarterly Sales Training Spotlights address all aspects of your business. Each Spotlight has three tracks, and usually added bonuses:

  • The first track focuses on the Business Opportunity of Novell products - we give you the insight on how Novell is approaching the marketing with a product, product features, why it's important to Novell and sales opportunities
  • The second track focuses on the Sales Opportunity for you - we help your sales team understand how to position the training or certification, questions to ask their customers, and they walk away with additional sales tools to help them along. Typically, special promotions are announced here!
  • The third track focuses on your Technical Team - your instructors are in front of your customer 7-8 hours a day, so we want to better enable them. These sessions can be focused on greater technical enablement, how to uncover upsell opportunities and how to position training and certification in a classroom setting.

Open Enterprise Server Contest Winners Announced!

We'd like to thank those Training Partners that hosted the Open for Training: Seminar in a Box courses (Course 1000). The Open Enterprise Server 2 product launch would not have been as successful without your participation. For those Training Partners that did participate, we were able offer a contest to further entice your customers to come in and take a First Look at the product. Novell is pleased to announce the following winners:

  • Clay Masterson of Seattle, WA won an all expense paid trip to BrainShare 2008!
  • Brandon Fouts of Bainbridge Island, WA won a $500 AMEX Gift Card
  • John Stanley of Newark, NY won a $500 AMEX Gift Card

Thank you for your participation in this seminar and we look forward to providing these types of marketing tools for future product roll outs.

Novell will also signficantly increase the prices of their Novell Advanced Technical Training (ATT) courses so they do not fall into the same price range as the MSRP for our partner-led courses. This means the best value for training comes through Novell training partners, not "direct from Novell" ATT courses.

Jumpstart: Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (Course 8000)

Get your customers trained on the future of ZENworks!

If your customers are looking at or adopting ZENworks 10 Configuration Management, they are going to need training. Novell Authorized Training Partners can deliver the only ZENworks 10 Configuration Management training on the market today by contracting with Certified Novell Instructors (CNIs) authorized to teach the course.

The Jumpstart - ZENworks 10 Configuration Management course is offered in the same fashion as Novell direct training - so it is intense, hands-on training. The course was developed by Novell Advanced Technical Training (ATT) Engineers and is delivered by experienced and trained CNIs.

New or existing Novell ZENworks administrators should attend this course because the administration and architecture of ZENworks Configuration Management is different from the traditonal ZENworks environment.
