Newly Released

3109 – Novell Identity Manager 4 Advanced Edition Administration

Novell Identity Manager 4 is a new family of products designed to help you manage identity across physical, virtual, and cloud environments. With Novell Identity Manager 4: Administration you will learn the core functionality and administration techniques common to all versions of Novell Identity Manager 4. In this new 5 day course, you will lean to use the embedded identity vault, run basic reports , check driver states, manage policies, and more. If you are managing identities in your enterprise and using Novell Identity Manager 4, this course provides a solid foundation for understanding and administering this industry-leading product. Key objectives are:

  • Understand the architecture of Novell Identity Manager 4

  • Understand the structure and schema of the embedded identity vault

  • Use the Novell Identity Manager 4 tools to perform administrative tasks such as performing traces and checking driver states

  • Manage Policies

  • Manage connected systems

  • Perform health checks

  • Run reports common to all versions of Novell Identity Manager 4

3110 – Novell Identity Manager 4 Advanced Edition : Customization and Roles (Available February 2011)

The Novell Identity Manager 4 family of products now includes roles provisioning. Users can now be granted resource and access rights according to job roles. Using roles in your enterprise can help identify separation of duties violations for compliance purposes and allows for automatic provisioning and deprovisioning of resources as employees change job functions. In the new 5 day Novell Identity Manager 4: Customization and Roles course, students will learn to manage entitlements, configure custom workflows, create roles and more.

December Spotlight Online Session

Metrics That Matter Spotlight: From time to time Novell Training Partners have questions around the system we use to measure customer satisfaction, Metrics that Matter. Novell has invited Amy Rather of Metrics That Matter to present on the tool and to have a question and answer period. This live session will take place on December 20th at 9:00a.m. Mountain, 11:00 a.m. Eastern, 5:00 p.m. Central Euorpean Time. Extension of 3 for 1 Campaign

Instructor Program News

Identity Manager 4 Update

The recorded Train the Trainer sessions for IDM 4 are now available for review on the Course 3109 page of the Instructor Wiki. Provisional authorization for this course can be obtained by passing the Skills Assessment, and full authorization will be based on the Certified Novell Identity Manager Administrator certification which will be available in February. The assessment for provisional authorization can be accessed via the Instructor website.

Online Training Workshops

In order to help existing instructors who have experience of training in live face to face classroom situations gain skills in delivering training in an online virtual classroom we have arranged a series of workshops during the year. The workshop consists of two sessions delivered online, and will be repeated 4 times during 2011 to allow as many instructors as possible to attend at a convenient time. The workshops will be held on :

  • January 11th and 25th

  • February 8th and 22nd

  • May 12th and 26nd

  • September 8th and 22nd

Sessions will be held twice per day at 10:00GMT and 08:30MST to cover as many timezones as possible. To register email instructor@novell.com with details of which sessions you would like to attend.

Testing News

Practicum Testing Centre Renewals

We will start our 2011 Practicum agreement renewals in early January. During the month of January, we will contact your exam proctor with details about how to renew. By the end of January, if you haven't renewed your agreement, your site will be removed from the locator until your renewal is received and processed. Please be aware that if you have candidates register for exams after January 31, 2011, you will need to have renewed or their exam will not be able to be delivered. If you have any questions about the renewal process, please contact us at practicum@novell.com.

For those of our training partners who are not yet a Practicum Testing Center, we invite you to take the opportunity to join the program.
