SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 for Solaris Administrators (Advanced Technical Training) [Course 9058]

Course Overview

This course is designed to teach Unix administrators, experienced in the Solaris operating system, intermediate administration skills and concepts necessary for proficiency in administering SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (SLES 11). Note, this course does NOT discuss basic Linux administration commands common to Solaris and SUSE, nor does it discuss differences between Solaris and SLES 11.

Key Objectives

During this course, you will learn how to:

  • Manage Linux devices files and manipulate their kernel drivers
  • Manage booting and service initialization
  • Configure basic client networking
  • Use the LVM volume manager, configure RAID and manage Linux file systems
  • Manage software packages and package repositories with RPM, Zypper and YaST
  • Monitor server activity, gather system information, and control system logging

Audience Summary

This is a high-speed, one-day course, designed to bring Administrators who already know Solaris up to speed on SUSE Linux Enterprise Sever 11 (SLES 11). To get the most out of this course, students are strongly advised to have at least a full year of experience in administering a Unix operating system such as Solaris or any version of Linux.

Course Prerequisites

Before taking this course, you should have a firm understanding of command line operation in a UNIX/Linux environment. You should also know most administration commands from Solaris.
