2/4/09 NUI-KC Meeting notes

February 4, 2009 2:10 pm

Hey guys-

Thanks for those of you who were able to make it to today’s meeting. We had a good discussion at Allied National’s new office in Overland Park.

– We discussed some of the training changes at Novell. They are making on-demand titles available to all Novell clients at a great rate. This is pre-recording online training and other supplemental reference material. From what I understand, they were going to offer 1 year access to this at $2495, and Charles Hughes mentioned that he saw a special where if you buy now they will offer it at $995. See Novell’s website for details.
– On the software front, we discussed Novell’s acquisition of Managed Objects and how beneficial this piece of software can be.
– Elections: We conducted elections for officer positions today and below are your new NUI-KC officers:
o President – Michael Weber (Allied National)
o Vice President – Dan Parker (KIS)
o Treasurer – Jared Jennings (DTI)

They are planning on having the next lunch meeting on Wednesday, March 11th. The plan is to have Jared Jennings outline a GroupWise 7 to GroupWise 8 migration. Those of you who have migrated, are considering a migration, or just want to sit and eat lunch with other Novell users are encouraged to attend. Location is TBA.

It’s been a pleasure having these NUI meetings with you guys over the past couple of years. You never know, I may be back visiting Kansas City when a future NUI meeting is happening and I will be sure to stop in if I am.

Thank you!

Alex Monteiro
