July 7, 2017 1:23 pm

If you’ve been watching on our community sites, you’ve probably noticed some subtle, but important updates.   We’re still in the process of planning a consolidated community, but in the meantime, we’re working to make what we have as useful as possible.  We’ve made some changes that will help you find information about your Micro Focus products more quickly, and maybe brought some content to your attention that you hadn’t noticed before.  Here are some of the improvements we’ve made to some of our community sites:

Product Community Landing Page:

  • While we work on consolidation of our various community platforms, we’ve tried to making finding the community site you need as simple as possible.  You’ll find this community link in our main web site header:
  • Once in the community site, click on the solution you are interested in, and link into the right community for your product.

Micro Focus Forums –

  • We’ve expanded the tabbed navigation you will find on that site:
    • Forum – Takes you to the discussions.
    • What’s New – Allows you to see new content since your last visit
    • Blogs – Takes you to the technical blogs on each of our communities
    • Wiki – Takes you to the Micro Focus / SUSE wiki site
    • Ideas – The ideas portals and enhancement request systems
    • Support Videos – Micro Focus Support & Training YouTube channel
    • Webinars – TechTalk Webinars where you can dig deeply into various solutions
    • FAQ – Everything you need to know about using this site
  • We’ve now included all Micro Focus products
    • No matter which of our community sites the discussion forum resides on, you can now get to it from our Micro Focus Forums home page.
  • We’ve improved the content in the right column:
    • Micro Focus News
    • Newest Support Videos
    • Most discussed topics in the past month
    • Most viewed discussions in the past month
    • Most viewed discussions in the past year

Micro Focus Community:

  • Redesigned home page:
    • We’ve added a left column
      • Links to your joined groups
      • Links to other product community sites
      • Relevant navigation for this community
    • We’ve resized the center column
      • Smaller footprint
      • Featured content
      • Your bookmarks
    • We’ve redesigned the right colum
      • We’ve added a points system where you earn points by contributing
        • List of people with the most points
        • You can see where you fall in the list
        • You can see at a glance how many points you’ve earned
  • We’ve done a lot of work on standardizing the layout and navigation in the product specific groups.
    • Common layout
      • Forums, Wikis, Blogs, Files
    • Common navigation

We’re continuing to make these types of incremental updates to our existing community sites.   Planning for consolidation into one community site continues in an effort to ensure the most useful and easy to use community possible while still maintaining years of content from the existing sites.  Here is a list of the current community sites Micro Focus hosts and manages:
