Error: This CPU is VT-capable, but VT is not enabled (check your BIOS firmware settings)

Problem:

When trying to create a 64bit virtual machine on 64bit hardware I got the error: “This CPU is VT-capable, but VT is not enabled (check your BIOS firmware setting)”.

Solution:

  1. Restart / reboot the machine and goto BIOS settings.
  2. Select CPU information.
  3. Enable Virtualization Technology. (By default it will be disabled)
  4. Save and exit from BIOS.
  5. Restart the system.
