Finding Updated Snap-ins for iManager

November 7, 2007 5:59 am

It can be really frustrating trying to find the updated snap-ins for iManager using the search on the downloads page.

iManager 2.5 and above, by default, tries to get a listing of the latest snap-ins available from Novell’s website. These new versions of iManager then make it quite simple to install the snap-ins you want from the interface.

Sometimes, however, the iManager server cannot get the appropriate HTTP access to Novell’s website in order to get the descriptor file it needs. This can leave you stranded and frustrated at your inability to find the right snap-in.

The descriptor that iManager downloads is here:

If you’re looking for a snap-in, try and look through that file – you’ll notice that it’s quite simple to figure out what the URL is for that snap-in you’re looking for.

If you’ve used iManager to download the snap-in already and you’re wanting to transfer the snap-in to another server then access the “<tomcat root directory>\webapps\nps\packages” directory. You’ll find all the NPM’s you need right there.
