I am very pleased to announce that the next version of GroupWise Mobility Service is now available for download as a Public Beta!

So What’s New?

GroupWise Mobility Service 2.1 supports the following ActiveSync 14.1 protocol functionality:

  • Follow-up flag sync
  • Sticky Note sync
  • Reply/Forward icon sync
  • System Address Book photo sync (Available with the “Cornell” release of GroupWise)

With the addition of Active Sync 14.1 into GMS 2.1  you will be able to use the Outlook 2013 Client connected to GMS via Active Sync as a “First Look”.  In this “First Look” we will not be officially be supporting the Outlook client.  Think of this as an open Beta for Outlook users.  During this open Beta we will be working to collect all of the data we need to identify the use cases in which this configuration will be successful for customers.

Connecting Outlook via Active Sync does not produce the same experience as connecting Outlook to an Exchange server.   Limitations of this experience are caused by several factors including:

  • Outlook
  • ActiveSync protocol
  • GW Mobility configuration
  • Differences between Outlook/GroupWise features

The experience would be similar to running Outlook against

With that being said we hope this will give you options for those subset of users that are needing or wanting Outlook as an option.

We received a lot of very positive response to the many presentations and demos and our open lab this week at Brainshare.  I am very eager to hear your feedback and offer Outlook as an option for you.
