ICO (Information Commissioners Office) issued new guidelines regarding businesses not following their responsibility in managing data under the DPA (Data Protection Act). As a result a failure to meet these terms could result in a fine in as much as $500,000. These new auditing guidelines will be enforced as of April 6, 2010.
In light of email becoming a source for important business documents, it is necessary that they be stored and archived properly. This requires a fully compliant, secure, and easily retrievable archiving solution.
Cloud startups are quickly rising to the challenge, offering affordable and scalable email archiving solutions using a cloud powered infrastructure. Not managing data correctly can have serious ramifications. In business server centers, email takes up a significant amount of data storage room. So as space runs short, simply deleting old emails is no longer an option. The FSA (Financial Services Authority), for example, requires that all inbound and outbound email be stored for a minimum of 6 years, and when asked for said emails to be produced, businesses have a 40 day grace period before serious legal procedures are pursued. If email records are disorganized or not stored at all, an inability to produce those emails could hurt your business’s reputation and finance.
Email Archiving companies, like Sonian of Needham, MA, utilize a Saas (Software as a Service) and Cloud Computing Infrastructure that allows companies to deliver superior email archiving and discovery performance at a lower total cost of ownership. Sonian is able to provide a quality email archiving service, with an industry leading ediscovery solution.
