A recent Java release (1.7.0_51) has caused a Security Exception error to show up indicating that certain permissions were missing to load Java Applets in Vibe.
The affected features in Vibe include the use of ‘drag-and-drop file upload’, ‘edit-in-place’, and ‘workflow designer preview’.
The error message looks something like this:
Application Error: Security Exception
Missing required Permissions manifest attribute in main jar:
There are a couple of ways to resolve this issue in Vibe.
The first would be to use the Patch which was created for versions 3.0 through 3.4 which can be found here. Simply select Vibe for the product and click on “Search”. Then scroll to the bottom of the list and find the patch for the version of Vibe you are using and install the patch.
The second way to resolve the issue is to update your Java Security settings. To do this you’ll need to search for Java in your ‘Programs’ or ‘Control Panel’. Once you’ve accessed the Java Control Panel, select the ‘Security’ tab. There you’ll find an ‘Exception Site List’. Click “Edit Site List” and add trusted URLs which will allow applications to run on those sites. Once you have added those trusted URLs, restart your browser and the applets should function normally in Vibe. This second fix can be used for other applications which use Java when there is not a patch available.
