ENVIRONMENT: Novell NetWare 6.5 SP6
ZENworks 7 SP1

PROBLEM: Dell Latitude D630 will not PXE boot the ZENworks 7 SP1 imaging OS. The network card is not automatically detected.

SOLUTION

Ensure that the server is running at least ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Service Pack 1 Hot Patch 5

Edit the following files in SYS:\tftp\cmds\

– z_auto.cmd
– z_maint.cmd
– z_zpdis.cmd
– z_zpen.cmd

Insert the text “insmod=tg3” on the same line, but immediately before “install=tftp://$TFTPIP/boot rootimage=/root“.

The Dell laptop will now PXE boot the ZENworks 7 SP1 imaging OS and image correctly.
