Description:

Administrators might need to install the Novell Client 2 on all Endpoint Management devices in their organization. The ZENworks Configuration Management Bundles feature can be used to perform the installation of the Novell Client 2 on all Endpoint Management devices. ZENworks Configuration Management allows administrators to deploy the Novell Client 2 on devices in stages based on criteria, such as location, device category, and operating system.

Important: Novell Client 2 is only for Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2008 on x86 and x64 platforms. This client will not run on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, or previous versions of the Windows platform.

This cool solution provides information on how to configure ZENworks Configuration Management bundles to deploy Novell Client 2 on Endpoint Management devices. This document details the procedure for ZENworks 11 and ZENworks 10 Configuration Management releases.

The Install.ini file in the Novell Client 2 setup directory can be edited before creating a bundle, to suppress the reboot prompt or to force a reboot after installation.

i had to install novell.cer in Trusted Publisher Certificate store to get an unattended install.

    1. install NWClient manually and check “always trust novell inc.” – find and export the certificate
    2. c:\install\novellcer\certmgr.exe -add c:\install\novellcer\novell.cer -c -s -r localMachine TrustedPublisher

certmgr.exe comes with WIndows SDK. one could also user certutil.exe

    The solution is quite simple:
    certutil -addstore “TrustedPublisher” novell.cer
