Twitter is decribed by Wikipedia as “A free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author’s profile page and delivered to the author’s subscribers who are known as followers. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications.”
Last March, Twitter was ranked as the fastest-growing site in the Member Communities category as indicated by a Nielsen.com blog. Twitter had a monthly growth of 1382%, Zimbio of 240%, followed by Facebook with an increase of 228%.
Twitter is becoming a popular tool for businesses and corporations to extend their reach to their customers. In addition, customers get added benefits by receiving immediate information on their favorite products and services and in some cases they get promotional offerings not found else where. Dell for example has benefited from using Twitter by receiving immediate feedback from its customers while at the same time giving its customers discounts that can’t be found elsewhere. OES Updates on Twitter
Novell has several different accounts on Twitter, but we have now added an OES specific one. You can now get immediate updates on Twitter with what is happening with Open Enterprise Server. Just follow the Twitter account “novelloes” at http://twitter.com/novelloes.

Two recent “tweets” are the announcement of the OES2SP2 Beta3 which was recently released to the beta sites. Also posted was news about the Novell Support Advisor tool (v. 1.1) which just shipped this week, which scans your servers for potential problems and gives possible solutions, saving you from potential support calls.
