Pushing Accepted Appointments to a Google Calendar

February 6, 2007 3:16 am

For some reason you can’t get to Groupwise WebAccess, or for some reason your company hasn’t set up Groupwise Mobile – therefore you need a way to view your accepted GroupWise appointments.

Here are the steps for pushing out your accepted GroupWise appointments to your Google Calendar:

1. From GroupWise, create a rule like this:
“When event is Filed to Calendar folder and if condition is Appointment, Add Action to Delegate to: Comments to recepient:GWDelgate”

2. From gmail, create a filter where the search criteria is from your GroupWise email address, name@source.domain, and has the words GWDelegate.

3. Set the action to “Delete it”.

Note: I was able to then set up gmobilesync,, to sync my Google calendar to my Windows Mobile 5 device and thus my GroupWise Calendar. Version 1.4 of the app will include the ability to schedule a sync.

Looks like this does not seem to be working for at least some people as of Nov 2008. It seems Gmail is not recognizing delegated meetings from GW and posting the new event automatically.

The email does get to Gmail but it seems a manual intervention is needed to actually post an event.

Anyone know if Gmail was changed?

I’ve seen the postings about needing to set Gmail to US English and that does not seem to make a difference anymore.

I am unable to get this to work for me. I have also tried the following.

    anyone have any success?

The instructions at the link you posted worked for me.

Make sure you pay attention to this note in the instructions.

NOTE: GMail allows you to send things to and it will still go to However, it is important that you DO NOT use this feature here. Because of the way GMail processes appointment emails, it will not get added to your Google Calendar. So just put your regular gmail address into the “To:” field.

After I made that change in my GW rule, GCal auto-accepted my GW appointments.

I have been using this rule for years and it has worked very well, however recently the rule has just stopped working. Is anyone else having this issue?? Any work arounds? I even tried publishing my calendar and subscribing to it in gmail, however that doesn’t seem to update any changes.

We checked with our GW expert in Support, and she said that it’s possible that the syncing could stop working if you upgraded from one GroupWise client to another. You might want to ask your help desk if they recently upgraded.

Another idea she had was that Google might have changed something on their end. But that would affect a lot of people. Has anyone else seen this?

I did recently upgrade from GW8 to GW2012. I will delete the rule and try to recreate it to see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the suggestion.
