SLES SPs are supported for 6 months after the release of the next support pack and since SLES 11 SP4 was released in July’15, SLES 11 SP3 is set to go out of support end of Jan’16.

SLES 11 SP3 is the base platform for OES 11 SP2 and OES 2015.  You, as an OES customer running OES 11 SP2 or OES 2015 – should you be worried?

Post Jan’16, SLES11 SP3 patches – deemed necessary for running OES services securely and stably will be made available via the respective OES11 SP2 and OES 2015 update channels.

So, OES customers – rest assured – We take security and stability of OES servers seriously and we know they are a priority for our customers and hence are a priority for us too.  We will be taking care of this pro-actively without you having to be worried on this count.

Mid 2016, we expect to release OES 11 SP3 and OES 2015 SP1, both based on SLES 11 SP4.

That’s will be the next major OES update following OES2015 SP1. The changes in SLES12 are significant and to adopt OES for SLES12 is taking time and we did not want defer adding value in OES stack. So, this comes first. The release of OES on SLES12 will focus on the platform enablement and including the next major update to eDirectory.

Any chance on a date, we’re not moving from oes2 until 2015SP1 comes out. It would help for planning purposes to know when.

mid 2016 is too airy fairy. Last year it was “early 2016” and it would be on sles12.

Thanks! This is good news. I’m glad you are holding with SLES 11 for now. Gives me the time I need for adjusting to changes.

I noticed that VMware has dropped SLES 11 SP3 (and older versions) from their OS Support matrix for ESX/i 6.x. I suspect this is because of the EOL nature of that version. It could worry companies that are hosting OES 2015 and moving to ESX/I 6/x.

Any projected release date for the new OES 11.3 or 2015.1 service packs?
