Q: In an Identity vault, how is log data stored and accessed?

A: Identity Manager events are consumed by Novell Sentinel where they will ultimately be stored in a RDBMS for reporting purposes. Supported databases are Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.

Novell Sentinel includes Crystal Reports Enterprise and a number of canned reports. These reports can be customized and new reports can be written.

Sentinel includes the capability to partition data within the database for archival purposes. Events can also be verified to ensure that they have not been tampered with. This is done by digitally signing each event then chaining each signature to the previous and next event’s signature. Logs can be searched from Sentinel Control Center.
