A powerful Windows CMD script that query’s WMI for MSI package names containing the string stored in variable ‘__FILTER’, then, it performs a silent uninstall of any packages that it finds a match.

I developed it to remove GroupWise Clients (those that utilize MSI) which were installed with all different configurations throughout the enterprise. Most everyone was on GW802.

I am submitting this as a GW removal tool, but really, you could use this code to query any string to uninstall any product.

By default the Novell Client for Windows 7 is configured as primary network provider and a Novell OES2 DSfW server has both the NCP and SMB protocol stacks configured. In order to be able to use both the Novell Client and Microsoft Windows Network client on a Microsoft Windows 7 workstation, the network provider order has to be modified. This article has the steps to configure the Novell Client as secondary network provider on a Windows 7 Workstation so the workstation can authenticate to a DSfW domain as well.

Recently, we had heard rumblings from our users about how the “Display Next” button had disappeared in WebAccess. Not surprisingly, Internet Explorer 8 renders the web application message list in a slightly different fashion than most other browsers. The “Next” button wasn’t missing, it was just buried below a large amount of whitespace in the client window, forcing the users to scroll down a screen to get to it. Here’s a solution.

GroupWise 8 SP1 Linux – Script Checking Services w/auto restart/logging

This is a script I wrote to automate the restart of GroupWise 8 sp1 services on our SLES11 server. Frequently the grpwise and gwmta services would fail on the server. Restarting the services manually in the middle of the night got old fast. This script will check the grpwise and gwmta services to see if they are running or not. If not it will be logged, restarted, checked for completion, logged and if it fails, logged again.
