ZCM 11 Appliance Upgrade Process from ZCM 10.3.1 if content larger than 60Gb.
ZCM 10.3.1 Appliance has 100Gb of content on it.
(This may be fixed in later releases. This document is based on ZENworks11_Appliance-x86_64.ova 7.2 GB (7826705920) w/MD5 checksum of 28630cf3e866e7e2a4c4a3a38a81febc)
The “ZENworks11_Appliance-x86_64.ova” appliance file has a predetermined 60Gb of space.

When doing the upgrade you may encounter an error that the prerequisites have not been met because there isn’t enough free space on the 11 upgrade appliance to accommodate the migration of 10.3.1 Appliance Data.

The Documentation shows “Post-Appliance” Migration process… but this needs to be done prior to starting of the ZCM 11 Appliance Migration Wizard.

Process:

vSphere Client – Deploy OVF Template – “ZENworks11_Appliance-x86_64.ova” which installs Linux OS & Appliance during the install, configure with static IP address & DNS.
Then it will automatically start the ZCM 11 appliance install.
Cancel zcm appliance install.
Open vSphere Client object and “Add” | “Hard Disk” giving the required size “plus 20Gb” or more.
You may need to restart the VMServer Appliance for it to recognize the additional space.

Open Terminal
Identify the running Novell process #’s
ps –aux |grep novell
(kill those Novell processes using the kill -9 <PID>)
Then copy the existing ZENworks files structure.
mv /var/opt/novell/zenworks /var/opt/novell/zenworks.bak
Create added disk space in YaST Partitioner (size needed for additional content) mounted to /var/opt/novell/zenworks

(Make sure this size is at least 20Gb or more than needed or it might still fail the prerequisite)
Mount that added disk space to the new ZENworks location.
mount /var/opt/novell/zenworks
Change Rights
chmod 755 /var/opt/novell/zenworks
Change Ownership
chown zenworks:zenworks /var/opt/novell/zenworks
Move the original ZENworks files structure to the newly added ZENworks location.
mv /var/opt/novell/zenworks/* /var/opt/novell/zenworks
Kick off the Migration again.
/usr/share/ZCMInstaller/setup.sh –M
Run through the wizard, now the prerequisites are filled before even starting and should complete through.

I tihing that the line :

Move the original ZENworks files structure to the newly added ZENworks location.
    mv /var/opt/novell/zenworks/* /var/opt/novell/zenworks

    should be :

Move the original ZENworks files structure to the newly added ZENworks location.
    mv /var/opt/novell/zenworks.bak/* /var/opt/novell/zenworks
