Download the ConsoleOne file to a temporary location on a Windows workstation. This file is a Windows executable. Double-click the c1.exe file that you just downloaded. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. When you are prompted to choose the location to install to, choose either a drive mapped to a server volume or choose a local workstation drive.
You must have root privileges to run the install. If eDirectory is installed on the same machine you will install ConsoleOne on, it must be eDirectory 8.7.1 to avoid packaging problems.
The steps to start ConsoleOne on Windows depend on where ConsoleOne is installed.
| Installation Location | Steps |
| NetWare volume | Map a drive (with a letter, not a UNC path) to the NetWare
volume. On the NetWare volume, browse to PUBLIC\MGMT\CONSOLEONE\1.2\BIN. Double-click CONSOLEONE.EXE. |
| Local hard disk | On the Windows desktop, double-click the ConsoleOne icon. |
Depending on whether the server GUI is up, complete the appropriate steps:
| GUI Is Up | Steps |
| Yes | Switch to the GUI. Click Novell > ConsoleOne. |
| No | At the console prompt, enter C1START. |
You can run ConsoleOne locally or from another computer through an X terminal (remote) session, if that computer has an X windowing subsystem. Either way, enter the following command at the system prompt:
/usr/ConsoleOne/bin/ConsoleOne
Accessibility features are available only on Windows. See Accessibility Notes for more information.
