Novell File Management Suite | Description |
Novell Dynamic File Services 1.5 |
Novell Dynamic File Services is an information life-cycle management technology that uses a policy-based approach for relocating data between two paths located on different devices. It transparently provides a merged view of the file tree to users via a network share. Policy enforcement is automated with scheduled and on-demand runs of the policies. Novell Dynamic File Services helps optimize the use of storage resources by directing less valuable or less frequently accessed files to cheaper storage devices, which lowers the costs of hardware, power, and cooling, and streamlines backup processes, without impacting the end user. Dynamic File Services 1.5 adds the ability for the secondary location in a pair to be a remote share that has been published in Active Directory. Remote shares are supported on network attached storage (such as NetApp and EMC filers) or on supported Windows server platforms. Other improvements include the ability to browse to select folders and files to be moved between paths in a pair as a one-time move event, policy filter options for file patterns and file types, and a policy schedule option for yearly policy runs. |
Novell File Reporter 1.0.1.1 |
Novell File Reporter helps organizations more effectively manage network storage by providing administrators the ability to access comprehensive network storage information so that they can determine the best means of addressing their storage content. When organizations know what files are being stored, where they are stored, when they were last accessed, and how many versions of a file exist, they are better informed to make decisions such as where to store files, what files can be deleted, how to tier storage, how to plan for storage growth, and more. In addition to resolved issues, Novell File Reporter 1.0.1.1 adds support for Novell Storage Manager 3.0. |
Novell Storage Manager 3.0 |
Novell Storage Manager introduces management and structure to an unmanaged and unstructured network storage system. In the process, it automates the full life-cycle management of user and group storage. Leveraging Novell eDirectory or Microsoft Active Directory, Novell Storage Manager automates a comprehensive set of storage management tasks based on events, identity, and policies that reside in the directory. In addition to resolved
issues, Novell Storage Manager 3.0 adds the following: - Collaborative
