Model Your Migration Project

Most of your work will be done in the Project Window, where you can drag-and-drop NetWare 4, 5, and 6 data into volumes and folders in the destination NDS tree.

The Project Window is a place to model different migration scenarios before you begin the actual migration. The source server's volume data is shown in the left side of the Project Window, and the destination NDS tree is displayed in the right side of the Project Window. All of the planning in the Project Window is done offline, meaning that folders moved and created in the Project Window are not actually copied or created until you begin the migration.

The Project Window and the Using the Project Window dialog box appear after you have created the migration project.

  1. Determine what NetWare 4, 5, or 6 volume data will be copied to which folders in the destination server's NDS tree.

IMPORTANT:  You cannot drag-and-drop the sys: directory from the source server or tree to the sys: directory on the destination server or tree. The source sys: directory can be dragged-and-dropped into any other destination directory.

  2. If needed, create new folders in the destination NDS tree.

  3. Drag-and-drop NetWare 4, 5, or 6 folders and volumes into NDS containers.

IMPORTANT:  If you are migrating NDPS® information to the destination server, make sure you migrate the sys:ndps directory and the sys:login/ippdocs directory. They are necessary for NDPS to function properly.
