To create a Computer object

  1. Right-click the container you want to create the Computer object in click New Object.
  2. Under Class, select Computer click OK.
  3. In Name, enter a name up to 64 characters long. For example: ROUTER3. Make sure you follow the guidelines in About Naming NDS Objects.
  4. If you want to assign additional property values as part of the creation process for this Computer object, select Define Additional Properties. For example, you might want to record the network addresses used by the computer.
  5. Click OK.

Computer objects are typically used for tracking purposes only, such as to record information about routers. However, applications can be designed to use and maintain the information stored in Computer objects.
