Support for Standard Protocols

The NetWare News Server supports the following protocols:

• Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) for connection to LDAP servers
• Secure Socket Layer for authentication and encryption
• Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) for remotely monitoring and managing IP devices across a network

Easy Creation and Management of Discussion Groups

You can easily create and manage discussion groups with the Discussion Group Manager. You can delegate discussion group management tasks to users if you grant them the appropriate permissions.

Searching across Multiple Discussion Groups

You can specify full-text indexing of discussion groups for searching purposes. Users can specify search profiles to more easily monitor and track discussions across multiple discussion groups.

Access Control at Both Server and Discussion Group Levels

You can create private or public discussion groups. You can specify access control on your entire server, on your entire server and certain discussion groups on your server, or only on certain discussion groups on your server.

Security Using SSL and User Certificates

NetWare News Server uses SSL and user certificates to provide authentication and encryption when communicating with other SSL-enabled products.

Discussion Group Replication

Discussion group replication is the way two or more news servers exchange articles and share information. Servers can accept discussion groups, send discussion groups, or both.
