Limitations of LLC Encapsulation
The following limitations apply when LLC encapsulation is used:
- Only one ATM connection is established, and only one call per protocol is allowed over a shared virtual channel. If a second call from the same protocol is attempted, the call will be rejected. Protocol features that require multiple connections to the same end station, such as IPX load sharing, should not be enabled.
- When two end stations communicate with each other, only one of the two encapsulation methods can be used.
- Bridging is supported only by using the LLC encapsulation method.
- The permanent virtual connection (PVC) call type is supported only by using the LLC encapsulation method.
