Because eDirectory passwords are not obfuscated in system memory during the installation or upgrade, we recommend not leaving a server unattended during the installation, upgrade, or configuration.
Using ssh (secure shell) or the NetWare Remote Console to access the system does not work during installation. NetWare installation is always a down server installation, so unauthorized users cannot connect to the computer from other computers on the network during an installation.
