This section contains information to help you implement a new installation of Novell® DeFrameTM. If you are upgrading from Novell DeFrame 2.0, please see Upgrading From DeFrame 2.0 .
DeFrame includes two installation programs you must run and an additional two that you may need to run:
DeFrame eDirectory Setup: This Setup program installs the DeFrame snap-ins to a ConsoleOne® location, extends the schema of the tree where you want DeFrame objects to reside, and adds the DeFrame objects. It must be run once.
DeFrame Terminal Server Setup: This Setup program installs DeFrame files to a terminal server and defines the terminal server in Novell eDirectoryTM by creating a DeFrame Server object. It must be run on each terminal server you want to use with DeFrame.
DeFrame Workstation Setup: This Setup program installs the DeFrame client to a workstation. You only need to run it on a workstation if thin-client applications will be launched on the workstation through Novell Application LauncherTM/Explorer (ZENworks® for Desktops).
DeFrame Shared Drive Setup: This Setup program enables local drive support for users running thin-client applications in RDP client sessions. It requires the NetBEUI protocol to be enabled on the workstation and will not work unless the workstation is on the same network segment as the terminal server or WINS (Windows Internet Naming Service) is configured to resolve NetBIOS names into IP addresses.
The following sections provide instructions for running each of the Setup programs:
After you've completed the above tasks, see What 's Next? for directions on what you need to do to enable users to run thin-client applications.
