Novell® DeFrameTM provides directory-enabled management and delivery of thin-client applications. Integrated with Novell ZENworks® OnDemand ServicesTM 2, it lets you provision thin-client applications as well as desktop and Web applications. Integrated with ZENworks for Desktops 3.2, it lets you deliver both thin-client and desktop applications through Novell Application LauncherTM.
The following lists highlights some of the features that let you realize the benefits of using DeFrame to manage and deliver thin-client applications:
Directory-Based Management: All application, user, and terminal server information is stored and managed in Novell eDirectoryTM. Using eDirectory makes configuration and management of application delivery quicker and easier.
Server Load Balancing: You can use DeFrame Load Balancing Services to ensure that when a user launches an application it is run from the least-utilized server, maximizing both server performance and user satisfaction.
Dynamic User Management: DeFrame Dynamic User (DDU) functionality can be used to dynamically manage user accounts on terminal servers. When a user launches a thin-client application, DeFrame creates the user's local account on the server. When the user exits the application, DeFrame removes the account. DeFrame also supports roaming user profiles so that user settings and documents can be persistent from session to session, regardless of which terminal server the user's current application is running from.
Citrix MetaFrame Support: DeFrame supports both Microsoft* Windows* Terminal Services and Citrix* MetaFrame*.
Novell iFolder Integration: You can integrate Novell iFolderTM with DeFrame to enable users to store files used with thin-client applications to network storage areas.
ZENworks OnDemand Services Integration: You can include thin-client applications in OnDemand Services packages. This consolidates your thin-client, desktop, and Web applications in one location for your users and allows you to charge for thin-client applications and track application usage.
ZENworks for Desktops (ZfD) 3.2 Integration: You can use the ZfD Novell Application Launcher to deliver thin-client applications to users. This consolidates your thin-client applications and desktop applications into one location. You can also use ZfD Dynamic Local User (DLU) policies to dynamically manage user accounts on terminal servers rather than using the DeFrame Dynamic User (DDU) functionality.
