1.0 Overview of Archive and Version Services

Novell Archive and Version Services 2.1 on OES 2 Linux captures and stores periodic versions of your network files in an archive database. As you work, the archive server transparently saves versions of your network files that you create, modify, or delete during a scheduled interval. If you rename or delete a directory or file, then create another one with the same name, the archive server distinguishes those instances and maintains sets of the related versions.

Archive and Version Services frees the administrator to focus on other critical IT issues. You can view a list of versions of the source files, select the required file, then recover it. You can access file versions from anywhere, at any time, using a Web browser and an active network or Internet connection without the help of your administrator.
