NIC status is insulated by virtual switches. For faster responses, use dedicated NICs for the virtual machine.
In VMware, a dedicated NIC is one that is presented exclusively to one guest operating system through pass-through PCI/PCIe. The number of dedicated NICs cannot exceed the number of NICs the physical box has.
