Product Description

Open Enterprise Server 2015 SP1 (OES 2015 SP1) is the most trusted, secure and highly available suite of enterprise ready services that provides file, print, networking and application services built on SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP4.

OES 2015 SP1 provides:

  • Enhanced NSS capabilities:
    • Reduced disk fragmentation is achieved through delayed block allocation.
    • New commands are added to the nsscon utility to automatically upgrade NSS32 and NSS64 AD media enabled pools to the Trustee Index media.
    • A new administrative tool (sputil) is introduced for performing purge operation.
    • NSS now supports a new media type Trustee Index. The Trustee Index tree stores the list of directories and files in the NSS volumes that are having trustees and IRF (Inherited Rights Filter).

  • NFARM enhancement: Active Directory (AD) and eDirectory users can now perform salvage and purge operation.

  • FTP access to NSS resources enabled for Active Directory users on OES 2015 SP1 servers.

  • Multi-forest support:
    • AD users accross AD forests or AD domains can access NSS resources based on their trustee assignments with OES joined forest.
    • NSS, CIFS, DFS, DST, NIT, SMS, and Migration tool supports multi-forest changes for AD users.

  • Enhanced NURM capabilities:
    • You can now connect to an AD server by using a secure LDAP port.
    • An option to select multiple user maps and apply rights on the selected volume while mapping rights.
    • Two way synchronization of rights can be achieved using user-rights-map comand line utility. This utility synchronizes the rights of eDirectory trustees with AD trustees and vice versa.

NOTE: Beginning with OES 2015, Archive and Version Services (AV) and QuickFinder services are not included. New installations will not include patterns to install these components. If you are upgrading to OES 2015 or later from an earlier OES server (one that includes these packages), the AV and QuickFinder packages and the associated data will not be accessible on the OES server. However, the iManager plug-ins for AV and QuickFinder are still available in OES 2015 or later releases but not installed by default. You can install these plug-ins from iManager to manage servers prior to OES 2015.

    • On a Linux system at the shell prompt, enter the following command:
      md5sum filename
where filename is the name of the file you are verifying.

    • On a Windows system, obtain a Windows-compatible MD5-based checksum utility from the Web and follow the usage instructions for the utility.
