3.0 Installing NetStorage

NetStorage is automatically installed and preconfigured to default settings during the Open Enterprise Server (OES) installation.

For more information, see the OES 2018 SP2: Installation Guide. You can change the default settings of the NetStorage configuration during OES installation. See Changing the NetStorage Default Configuration for more information. For most networks, you need NetStorage installed on only one server; however, this might vary depending on the size of your network and your organization’s needs. For example, if your company is geographically dispersed, you might want to install NetStorage on one server in each geographic region.

You can use iManager to change the NetStorage configuration after the OES installation. For more information on iManager, see Section 7.0, Administering NetStorage.

IMPORTANT:Unsupported Service Combinations: Do not install any of the following service combinations on the same server. Although not all of the combinations will cause pattern conflict warnings, OES does not support any of the following combinations:

  • OES NetStorage

  • OES Domain Services for Windows

  • Xen Virtual Machine Host Server
