product description
PolyServe* is the leader of next-generation clustering software for Linux-and Windows-based data centers. PolyServe reduces the cost and complexity associated with traditional clustering approaches, while breaking existing scalability, availability, and manageability barriers.
PolyServe Matrix Server is shared data clustering software that enables multiple Linux-based servers to function as a single, easy-to-use, highly available system. It is comprised of high availability services that increase system uptime, a true symmetric cluster file system that enables scalable data sharing, and cluster and storage management capabilities for managing servers and storage as one.
The PolyServe Cluster Volume Manager (CVM) option helps improve utilization and enable flexible reallocation of storage. Storage can be grouped into logical, shared pools, and increased in size as needed, online. Once grouped into shared volumes, storage can be easily managed as a single, central pool and shared across all nodes in the cluster.
Shared volumes may span storage devices within and between arrays. Striping support enables operators to create high-performance shared volumes. Striping also improves storage IO and throughput performance across devices within and between arrays.
PolyServe Matrix Server allows customers to transform their data center infrastructure by using flexible, scalable-on-demand clusters to reduce capital expenses and operating expenses in four ways:
- UNIX Server Replacement — Replace expensive UNIX SMP Servers with clusters of cost-effective Linux or Windows Intel Xeon or AMD64 servers by horizontally scaling applications across a cluster.
- Scalable Capacity on Demand — Aggregate performance can scale horizontally by adding low cost servers as needed to a PolyServe cluster, offering both compelling price-performance and absolute performance advantages over proprietary UNIX systems.
- Server Consolidation — Reduce the number of servers under management by consolidating applications and middleware to clusters of Linux or Windows servers. PolyServe Matrix Server allows customers to reduce capital and operating expenses, while improving overall system utilization and application availability.
- Data Consolidation — Eliminate the need to replicate data, and improve overall storage utilization. PolyServe Matrix Server allows customers to realize the promise of SANs — the ability for all servers to see and share all data on a SAN.
