4.8 Securing the Database Connection

OpenText recommends that you consider securing the connection between Retain and the database server.

To prepare for securing the connection, make sure that you have identified the certificate files described below and made them available to install on the Retain server while running the initial configuration wizard:

  • All the supported database types (MariaDB, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL) support secure database connections with Retain. We support certificates from industry-recognized Certificate Authorities and Self-signed certificates.

  • For the Retain server, we support industry-recognized CA issued certificates, and Self-signed certificates.

  • Following are the supported and certified files formats:

    • MSSQL - .pfx

    • Postgres - .pem and .crt

    • MariaDB -.pem and .crt

    • MySQL - .pem and .crt

    • Oracle - .p12

Initial setup instructions are in the OpenText Retain 23.2: Installation and Upgrade guide, starting with Message Store Database.

After the initial setup, you manage the certificates and keys using the SSL Certificates Management Tab, as documented in the OpenText Retain 23.2: Configuration and Administration guide.
