Micro Focus Secure Messaging Gateway (SMG) is supplied as an OVA template and is supported by VMware. The following third-party host operating systems and hypervisors are supported to run SLES 15 GA guests:

The minimum hardware requirements for the SMG are appliance:
1 CPU
8 GB RAM
2 Hard Drives: 1 60 GB Hard Drive for the operating system
60 GB hard drive for the operating system
60 GB hard drive for SMG. This may need to be larger based on the number of users and mailboxes you are monitoring and the size of your quarantine.
During the installation process Secure Messaging Gateway downloads and installs updates to the SLES operating system. Bypass any web filters and/or open the appropriate port(s) on the firewall that might prevent these downloads or the install process will fail.
If Secure Messaging Gateway is set behind a firewall, the following powers should be open for mail flow and system functions or services:
25 – TCP Inbound (Required - used for Mail)
80 – TCP (Optional - used for access from outside the network)
443 – TCP (Optional - used for access from outside the network)
53 – UDP Outbound (DNS Lookup)
80 – TCP Outbound (Updates services for Antivirus, Signature Engine, and GWAVA system.)
123 – TCP Outbound (Network Time Protocol (NTP))
