The migration process involves the following steps:
Accessing the product contents
Stopping and disabling components
Installing the Engine
Installing the license
Migrating the database
Configuring the Engine
Migrating the Engine Data
Installing and configuring the Event Monitor
Installing and configuring the Agents
Installing SMAdmin
Reviewing the migrated policies
Uninstalling Storage Manager components
Removing the Storage Manager data folders
Your options for migration can be either installing the components on the same server where the Storage Manager components are located, or on a different server. The only real migration that takes place is the database, which can be done in-place or across the wire.
