SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 11 SP4 leverages the hardware enablement made available with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP4. This gives customers the ability to run SAP solutions on new hardware platforms, resulting in better usability and performance of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 11 SP4 as platform for new SAP in-memory products, e.g., SAP HANA. It also supports larger, highly available HANA setups and easier setup of High Availability.
For SAP customers the following features are especially relevant for mission-critical SAP workloads:
- Additional hardware support for ppc64be allows mission-critical deployments of SAP HANA on IBM Power.
- A suitable compiler run-time allows customers to deploy SAP HANA out of the box on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 11 SP4 without installing additional packages.
- Major updates of the High Availability stack within SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 11 SP4 allow customers to leverage new features for SAP HANA such as off-site disaster recovery (DR) location for SAP HANA.
