Product Description

Based on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, JeOS provides an ideal platform for today’s agile environments whether it is private cloud or virtualized data center. JeOS (pronounced just like “juice”) is a perfect minimized host OS for deployment of container applications, private cloud images, and simplification of IT operations. In your enterprise or data center, take advantage of several different flavors of JeOS—KVM/Xen Fully Virtualized, Xen Paravirtualized, Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware, or OpenStack Cloud.

  • Support for both leading Open Source hypervisors, Xen and KVM, and Open Source paravirtualized drivers for all major hypervisors. Support for Linux Containers integrated into the virtualization management infrastructure.
  • Integration with the new SUSE Customer Center, SUSE's central web portal to manage Subscriptions, Entitlements, and provide access to Support.

System Requirements

Minimum Linux server system requirements for installation

JeOS trims unnecessary components down to keep the initial disk footprint size small (about 300 MB) to save your time in deployment and configuration. Depending on additional software added to the initial system, this size can increase and will depend on your specific use case. To allow a save start for your optimizations, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server system requirements are listed.

  • Local Installation: 512 MiB RAM (1024 GiB RAM recommended), 512 MiB Swap recommended
  • 2 GiB available disk space (more recommended, 8.5 GiB for all patterns)
  • 16 GiB for snapshot/rollback of the OS

Download and Installation

JeOS for x86-64 is available as images for download for different deployment targets:

  • JeOS for KVM and Xen
  • JeOS for VMware
  • JeOS for MicroSoft HyperV
  • JeOS for SUSE OpenStack Cloud
  • JeOS for Xen
