SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP1 is a highly reliable, scalable and secure server operating system for efficiently deploying highly available enterprise-class IT services in physical, virtual or cloud environments. Designed for mixed IT environments, it offers best of breed performance with reduced risk of technological obsolescence or vendor lock in.
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP1 is the only Enterprise Linux Operating System currently available that delivers:
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server provides market-leading usability, seamless interoperability with existing IT systems, and virtualization capabilities as a host and Perfect Guest.
SUSE Linux* Enterprise Server is available for download for the Azure Stack framework and pre-configured to initialize for any of the instances.
For installation instructions please consult the Microsoft Azure documentation.
Once an instance is launched you should register the instance with the SUSE Customer Center, a local SMT server using the SUSEConnect command or manage the instance with SUSE Manager. The image contains the same packages as the Bring Your Own Subscription images offered in the public Microsoft Azure IaaS framework. Please refer to the documentation for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for details about administration and configuration.
Due to the relatively small root file system the image uses ext4 as the root file system. For those users wanting to take advantage of the snapshotting and roll back features it is recommended to start an instance with a larger root volume, or configure a separate virtual disk to store snapshots to avoid an out of space root filesystem condition. Use the btrfs-convert command to convert the root filesystem.
