What's New in SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 12 SP2

  • Clustering support for MD devices: enables locking and synchronization across multiple systems on the cluster, so all nodes in the cluster can access the MD devices simultaneously.
  • Hawk simulator: this new feature enhance the testing and add the capabilities to do staging changes using the new batch mode simulator in the Hawk interface.

SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension (SLE HA) is available for download for each available platform as two ISO images. Media 1 contains the binary packages, media 2 the source code

For installation only media 1 of the desired architecture is needed.

Adding the SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension

You can add the High Availability Extension 12 SP2 to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP2 as an add-on product at install time or later.

Adding SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension During Installation

To add the HA extension while installing SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP2:

  1. Select the "Include Add-On Products from Separate Media" box on the Installation Mode Screen.

    Depending on your installation, you can add the HA Extension from media 1 or from a remote installation source, such as an FTP server, on the next screen.

Adding the SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension After Installation

To add the HA extension after you have already installed SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 SP2:

  1. Start YaST2

  2. Go to Software - Add-On Products add the media of the HA Extension or a remote installation source.

    You can then either manually select the specific packages you want to install, or choose from the predefined patterns under the Install and Remove Software option. If you don't find a specific package that you need in any of the suggested usage patterns, try the package search. Some packages might not be included in a pattern.

  3. You can then select the predefined HA pattern to automatically select the recommended packages for the HA extension, or manually choose a different list.
