Add a Change

The Add a Change dialog box lets you configure a change to be performed in the INI file and is displayed when you add a new section change or edit an existing INI change.

If you choose to edit an INI change, the section change type configured for the section is displayed by default in the Section Change Type drop-down list.

Add a Section

  1. In the Section Change Type drop-down list, select Add a Section.

  2. Specify the section name.

  3. Specify the keys to be added to the INI file. For example, key1 or key1=value1.

  4. Click Add to add the key to the list.

  5. Click OK.

The section with Add section icon is appended to the INI Changes list in the Edit Action - Edit INI File dialog box.

Add section icon indicates that the section is to be added to the INI file on the managed device when the action is performed.

Delete a Section

  1. In the Section Change Type drop-down list, select Delete a Section.

  2. Specify the section name.

  3. Click OK.

The section with Delete section icon is appended to the INI Changes list in the Edit Action - Edit INI File dialog box.

Delete section icon indicates that the section is to be deleted. If the section has keys, then it is deleted and recreated with the keys in the INI file on the managed device when the action is performed.

Modify a Section

  1. In the Section Change Type drop-down list, select Modify a Section.

  2. Specify the section name.

  3. Specify the change name.

  4. Specify the type of modification to apply to the INI file:

    • Add Keys: Specify the keys for the section that is added to the INI file. Type the key in the Specify keys to add in the section field, then click Add to move the key to the list. For example, you can specify key1 or key1 = value1.

      You can edit or remove an entry, or you can use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to order the list. The changes to the file are made in the order listed.

    • Add a key if not found: Specify a key name to change. Type the key in the key name field. For example, you can specify key2 or key2 = value2.

    • Add a key even if key exists: Specify the key in the key name field. For example, you can specify key2 = value2. Key2 will be added even if it already exists.

    • Delete Keys: Specify the key names to remove from the INI file. Type the key name in the Specify keys to delete from the section field, then click Add to move the key name to the list. For example, you can specify key1 or key1*.

      You can edit or remove an entry, or you can use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to order the list. The changes to the file are made in the order listed.

    • Replace value of a key: Specify the key name whose value you want to change, then specify the new value in the Replacement Value field.

    • Rename a key: Specify the key name whose name you want to change, then specify the new name in the New Key Name field.

    • Add or append value: Specify the key in the key name field and the new value in the Append value field. If the specified key already exists, the new value gets added to the existing values. If the key does not exist, then a new key with the value specified is created.

    • Delete or remove value: Specify the key in the key name field and the value to be deleted in the Delete value field. The value specified in the Delete value field gets deleted.

  5. Specify the keys for the section to be added to the INI file. For example, key1 or key1=value1.

  6. Click OK.

The section with Modify section icon is appended to the INI Changes list in the Edit Action - Edit INI File dialog box.

Modify section icon indicates that the section is to be modified in the INI file on the managed device when the action is performed.

Rename a Section

  1. In the Section Change Type drop-down list, select Rename a Section.

  2. Specify the name of the section to change in the INI file

  3. Specify the new section name.

    NOTE:You cannot perform any key operations while renaming a section.

The section with Rename section icon is appended to the INI Changes list n the Edit Action - Edit INI File dialog box.

Rename section icon indicates that the section is to be renamed in the INI file on the managed device when the action is performed.
