1.0 Migration Process

Novell ZENworks 11 Configuration Management introduces architecture that is different from traditional versions of ZENworks. To leverage the power and new features of ZENworks, you need to migrate from traditional systems rather than perform a typical upgrade.

To migrate to Novell ZENworks 11 Configuration Management, do the following:

  1. Review Section 2.0, Differences between ZENworks 11 Configuration Management and Traditional ZENworks to gain an understanding of how Configuration Management is different from traditional ZENworks.

  2. (Optional) For an overview of Configuration Management, see Product Overview in the ZENworks 11 SP2 Administration Quick Start.

  3. Install ZENworks 11 Configuration Management to at least one server to establish the Management Zone where traditional ZENworks information can be migrated. For installation instructions, see the ZENworks 11 SP2 Server Installation Guide.

  4. Migrate your traditional ZENworks installation to Configuration Management by using the instructions in:

  6. (Optional) Install AdminStudio that is included in the various editions of Configuration Management by using the AdminStudio Installation Guide at the .

    AdminStudio allows you to continue to standardize the way that you package, test, distribute, and manage your applications and patches.
