The License Model panel lets you select the license model for the entitlement. The entitlement’s license model determines the following:
The source (Inventory data or manually entered data) used to determine the installations associated with the entitlement. The installation data, along with the available license quantity, is used to calculate license consumption and compliance for the entitlement.
The scope of the entitlement. The scope determines what triggers the consumption of one of the entitlement’s licenses. The scope might be defined in terms of machines (devices), users, enterprises, sites, departments, and so forth. If one of the entitlement’s discovered products is found within the scope of the entitlement, the installation consumes one of the entitlement’s licenses. For example, each installation of the entitlement’s discovered products consumes a license. Or, each user who has one or more installations of the entitlement’s discovered products consumes a license. Or, each specified machine consumes a license.
The license models are organized according to the consumption data source. Each model is explained in the following sections.
